Tokyo Fit Mums began, as with most good ideas, through a general chat over lunch! Katie, a then new mum, was explaining the difficulties of finding the time to exercise due to the expense of childcare and no crèche facilities in gyms. Luisa, a fully qualified personal trainer was also surprised by the lack of classes specifically designed for new mums to recover and get fit again after pregnancy. Being inspired from the worldwide phenomenon of stroller fitness, together using the knowledge of fitness training and being a mum, they have teamed up to take the demands of mothers into account to design a fun and effective fitness programme that focuses on those baby stretched areas! They also understand that many women in Tokyo, both foreign and Japanese are far away from family and friends, so it’s also a great way to build friendships and support networks with other fellow healthy mums around Tokyo. Being in the great outdoors, while spending quality time with your baby, it also gives your baby a great jump start to the importance of health and exercise from a very early age.
